What Wine Buyers Buy… For Themselves

Here’s a question we get asked a lot: “What wines do you buy for your cellar?”

When it comes to Burgundy, the answer is easyChandon De Briailles.

Every year François de Nicolay and Claude de Nicolay Drouhin put out some of Burgundy’s silkiest, age-worthy wines. Theirs are wines of subtly, born in the vineyards and expressing their terroir from birth.

More to the point, and why we cellar them every year, is that these are some of the last values to be had in the Cote d’Or, especially in a crazy small vintage like 2012. They are wines that send shivers down your spine they are so pure. And, with patience, they have the potential to evolve into mind bogglingly complex beauties.

In short, there are Burgundy domaines with Big Names and then there are those that Burgundy insiders actually drink and collect. Chandon De Briailles falls firmly in the latter.

As with all things Burgundy 2012, we have very little to offer so it’s first come first served.

Happy “Insider Burgundy” Hunting!
